Workplace First Aid - Intro

By law employers are required to provide adequate workplace first aid provision for any staff that are injured or ill in the workplace. RTA can assist businesses in the Cheshire and surrounding areas to meet their duties in relation to this requirement.

First Aid at Work and Emergency First Aid at Work

As an employer you have a legal obligation under the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Approved Code of Practise & Guidance (L74) to risk assess the first aid needs of your workplace in order to ensure that there is provided, such a number of suitable persons, equipment and facilities as is adequate and appropriate in the circumstances for rendering first aid to employees if they are injured or become ill at work.

The risk assessment detailing what first aid provision is needed requires the employer to take into account:

• workplace hazards
• the size of the organisation
• the organisation's history of accidents
• the nature and distribution of the workforce
• the remoteness of the site from emergency medical services
• the needs of travelling, remote and lone workers
• employees working on shared or multi-occupied sites
• annual leave and other absences of first aiders and appointed persons.

The HSE only Approve First Aid at Work and Emergency First Aid at Work as the qualifications that meets these needs. RTA can provide these courses for your business.

• First Aid at Work initial: 25-27/10/10 £170 each.
• Refresher First Aid at Work 25-26/11/10 £129 each (To renew current FAW certificate).

Benefit's of this training

RTA can provide first aid training course in Cheshire and surrounding areas, for example the 3 day First Aid at Work and the 2 day re-qualification course for existing certificate holders. Plus the Emergency First Aid at Work qualification which is a one day course.

These courses are HSE Approved and RTA is a Associated Provider for these qualifications by the Association of First Aiders, who are the largest first aid support body in the UK.

The HSE strongly recommends that certificate holders also do annual 3 hour refreshers to keep skills current. We can provide this support to your workplace first aid staff.

Your staff will be trained in the latest workplace first aid techniques per the HSE syllabuses and certificated on qualifying for three years.
